This policy applies to classes and workshops led by KAG sponsored teachers from the area.

*If a participant cancels earlier than two weeks before the start of the class/workshop and has not paid the full amount, any down payment paid minus a $20 processing fee will be refunded.
*If a participant cancels within two weeks of the first day of the class/ workshop and has paid the full amount, the participant will receive a refund for the amount minus the down payment, if applicable.
*If a participant cancels the day of the class/workshop or doesn’t show, there will be no refund.
*If the class/workshop is cancelled by the instructor or the KAG, a full refund will be given.
*If extenuating circumstances occur such as an emergency (death or tragedy), the executive board and instructor will review the request for a full refund.
*In the event an excess of registrations are received based on the instructor’s maximum, a wait list will be kept in the order of receipt of registrations.  Full registration fees must be received on the first day of the class/workshop if the participant is selected from the wait list.  All fees submitted by wait list participants will be returned if they are not selected to join the class/workshop.

Outdoor Painting Workshop
July 5 & 6

Kingsport Art Guild is sponsoring nationally recognized painter
Dawn Whitelaw
to lead a 2 day workshop for intermediate painters who are interested in outdoor (plein air) painting.
The workshop will include lecture, demonstrations and on site painting with guidance from the instructor.

This is a rare opportunity to learn from an award winning painter and is
offered for a limited time to KAG members only.

July 5,  9:30 – 5
(optional night painting session)
July 6,  9:30 – 5

Cost will be $100 to KAG members and $150 for non-members
Optional night painting sessions will be additional $25 (for registered participants only)
Early registration is offered to exclusively to KAG members through May 15.

Workshop is limited to 16 participants

Dawn E. Whitelaw
Dawn Whitelaw is one of the artists in residence at On Track Studios in Franklin,
Tennessee. The opportunity to paint “en plein air” with colleagues in the Plein Air
Painters of the Southeast adds richness and honesty to her studio work. Most of
her formal instruction comes from continuing study with New York painter,
Everett Raymond Kinstler. Ms. Whitelaw is currently on the faculty of the
Peninsula School of Art and the Portrait Society of America, where she holds the
office of Vice Chairman. In recent years, The Plein Air Convention and Expo
featured her as an instructor in their conventions in Nevada and California and
she is also on the faculty for Plein Air South. For over 25 years she taught
painting as an adjunct instructor at David Lipscomb University. She continues to
teach throughout the country by conducting workshops in oil painting principles
and drawing. Dawn received 2nd place awards in the Door County Plein Air
Festival in both 2014 and 2015. In recent years, she has won awards in The
Olmsted Plein Air Invitational, the Piedmont Plein Air Paint Out and in Plein Air

In 2012, 2013, and 2015, Plein Air Magazine included her work in feature
articles. The American Impressionist Society elected her to Master status in
2016. Whitelaw was one of ten American women artists invited to exhibit in “
Inspiring Figures” at the Butler Institute of American Art in 2010. She recently
had one of her portrait paintings accepted into the permanent collection of the
Rahr-West Art museum. She is a founding member of the Cumberland Society
of Painters.
